TOP VMVPD EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS WITH ITS NEXT GEN CONTENT DELIVERY PLATFORM

The Challenge

One of the largest virtual multichannel video programming distributor (vMVPD) providers in the world was leveraging a legacy platform for its commercial markets that lacked modern features such as over-the-top (OTT) content, video on demand (VOD) services, and local content insertion. As part of this modernization effort, the client needed to enable programmable media content apps for seamless integration with other OTT content providers. While containers helped create fault-tolerant distributed microservices, they also introduced some challenges for monitoring.

The Solution

To maintain its competitive edge, the client looked to Ness to build, deploy, and scale its new global content delivery solution for both linear and OTT platforms. The platform was built on a scalable infrastructure leveraging AWS Kubernetes managed solution (EKS), providing even greater benefits in managing, deploying, and scaling containerized applications. This enables end-to-end ownership of the cloud environments (from development to production) and utilizes a well-architected AWS framework for operations.

Ness leveraged the following AWS services, including EKS, ALB, RDS, Redis, WAF, Elasticsearch, S3, EC2, Lambda, AWS Inspector, AWS SSM, CloudWatch, and ECR.

The Results

Ness built a scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure capable of supporting millions of users within a matter of months, bringing an elevated experience to hotel rooms, restaurants, hospitals, universities, and other commercial markets. EKS helped simplify this lifecycle by removing the overhead of manually monitoring and managing the Kubernetes Control Plane.
