The Challenge

A specialist in Intelligent Transportation needed to consolidate technologies and innovate with quality and speed in order to stay competitive.

They were not able to effectively handle the high volume of commuters with their existing critical software system and needed to process a higher volume of transactions in a shorter time – and reduce time to market for new features.

The Solution

Ness designed, built and deployed high-performance cloud-native solutions to enhance Automatic Fare Collection, support EMV Contactless payments, and run the Central Booking Engine, enabling the purchase of paper and smart products using contactless credit or debit cards as well as Apple Pay and Android Pay, creating a faster and more seamless experience for its commuters.

The Results

Ness was able to scale the solution to process 3,000,000+ smart cards and 350,000,000+ journeys per year and to deploy in 300+ depots from UK, AU, NZ and 8,000+ edge devices. Additionally, we reduced execution time for 8,000 tests from 2 months to 10 hours and supported over 1.5 billion transactions per year.
