The main thought of SAP NOW Week 2018

The recently held SAP NOW Week 2018 conference aimed to inspire Czech companies with the potential of smart technologies and show them how to become a modern enterprise.

Over the course of four days, over 800 participants took part in the event and there were around seventy expert presentations in six thematic blocks.

When talking about a modern company, we do not have to immediately mention artificial intelligence, machine learning or the Internet of Things. A modern company is defined by how it can respond to the outside world, namely the way it properly evaluates and “monetises” the data it has in its IT systems.

The key to success of each technological innovation is not only a great idea, a customer application, a new product or service. The key is the ability to link data and processes with human capital and exploit the potential that is being offered.

In our presentation at the conference, we outlined what specific potential we see in manufacturing companies. However, these practices can be generalised to a certain extent and are transferable and applicable also to other industries.

The result of such real-time planning and monitoring is a reduction in production time and an overall increase in productivity.

  • Shortening of throughput times in production
  • Reducing inventory
  • Increasing productivity
  • Harmonisation of different plans within the entire company
  • Increasing availability of critical parts
  • Better feasibility of plans and targeted planning
  • It will allow planners to focus on current issues and bottlenecks in production

Are you asking the right questions?

Even though you know your company perfectly – and often paradoxically just for this reason – an independent view can be useful, as well as identification of opportunities where technology can unleash a potential to do things more simply and more efficiently. For a start, it is enough to roughly know how your company is doing and then ask the right questions.

  • Can you properly evaluate development options – resources, links and processes, their impacts, etc.?
  • Are you able to efficiently collect and link data so that you can read what can move you further?
  • How fast do you react to market changes, adjust internal processes and what customer experience do you provide to your clients?
