Ness Digital Engineering is the New Partner in Production Digitalisation at Wikov Industry

Prague, 13th August 2019: Ness Digital Engineering, a global provider of comprehensive IT solutions and business services, and Wikov Industry, a traditional Czech gear and transmission manufacturer, have signed an agreement to implement the ERP information system and PDM/PLM product development and life-cycle management systems. Using the SAP technology implemented in the systems, Wikov Industry will achieve complete process integration and digitisation of custom manufacturing from the development stage through the delivery of unique products to large power plants in heavy industry, metallurgy and the transport industry.

“The decision to implement SAP S/4HANA in collaboration with Ness is an important step towards full digitisation of our manufacturing process,” said Vladimír Truksa, Chief Financial Officer of Wikov Industry. “We have chosen Ness as a partner for this project mainly because of the complexity and innovativeness of the proposed solution. The fact that Ness is an information solution provider for the manufacturing sector was also crucial in our decision. We appreciate the new functionality of SAP S/4HANA covering the entire product life cycle, from development and engineering to advanced planning and production management,” adds Mr. Truksa.

The ERP and PDM/PLM supplier selection process for Wikov took place over more than a year. The company’s final decision followed a pre-implementation analysis from which the finalists were selected. S/4HANA, however, was chosen as the most appropriate technological solution.

“This is a unique project that – thanks to the large amount of data, automation and process innovation – connects the product life cycle across the entire company. Our experts will apply their long-term experience and profound knowledge of manufacturing issues in the implementation of this project, which is unique in its scope for us as well as for this traditional Czech manufacturer, whose products are in demand worldwide,” said Karol Kubeczka, Director of Utility & Manufacturing Ness Digital Engineering.

The preparatory phase of the project has just started. After fully deploying PDM/PLM modules – SAP Engineering Control Center, SAP Production Engineering and Operations for technical production preparation and a fully integrated advanced SAP Production Planning and Detail Scheduling system, Wikov Industry can take full advantage of what SAP S/4HANA brings to the production process. The result will be a significant improvement in the coordination of activities in the company’s various departments, increase in labour productivity, the creation of a database for quality managerial decision-making and a reduction in time and material loss within the production process.
