Inktomi has developed a patented suite of products called Personal Edge - Web acceleration software that intelligently optimizes last-mile network connections and speeds up end-user performance by more than 30 percent.

Inktomi asked Ness to provide a cost-effective offshore/onsite model for  testing and qualifying the Personal Edge suite.

It had to meet the following objectives:

UNIX/Linux on i86, Spark, and Risc Architecture., Sun Solaris 2.x, 8.0, OSF/ Dec , Red Hat Linux 7.x, Windows – 98, 98 SE, ME, 2000, XP Home, Tools – WinRunner, CVS, Bugzilla, Internally developed tools in C++ and perl, Programming languages: Unix/C++, Java.

Based on proven expertise in testing and development of Internet technologies, Ness set up a highly skilled distributed team,  in Internet protocols (HTTP and TCP) as well as in testing products in UNIX/Windows environment.

Ness established an offshore testing lab with UNIX/Linux servers, and Windows-based desktops. The complete Inktomi environment was simulated with similar development and support tools for configuration management, bug tracking, knowledge management and collaborative development. The seamless offshore-onsite interaction was achieved through a tried and tested engagement model and a VPN link for secure data transfer.
