Ness Technologies, Inc., through its Managed Labs Offshore Delivery Model, provides Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) with the ability to offshore their Research and Development (R&D) functionality. Many ISVs struggle to keep pace with the marketplace, the costs of R&D continue to rise, and to increase productivity it becomes necessary to buy more R&D expertise. Ness Technologies has a realistic approach to offshore software R&D for ISVs through its strong methodology and working alongside its customer organisations to offer a partnership for R&D. Indeed, in Butler Group’s opinion the offshore R&D proposition would not work without this partnership model. The company has recently extended its model to organisations other than ISVs, in particular those that have technology at the ‘core’ of their operations. Ness offers a risk-and-reward model for some of its customers, which in our opinion could be extended to further prove the model to some of the more sceptical ISVs. However, many medium- to large-sized ISVs would benefit from the offshore approach offered by Ness Technologies, particularly if they are feeling the effects of increased demands on their R&D functions within strict budget limitations.
