Paris, France, June 14, 2004. Ness Technologies (www.ness.com) today announced the launch of AwareNess, a comprehensive emergency management system, at Eurosatory 2004, the international exhibition for land and land-air defense (hall 6, stand F46/07). The system supports the supervision of mass casualty incidents by Emergency Operations Centers.
AwareNess addresses the needs of emergency services during any kind of incident, and provides medical, law enforcement and fire-fighting services with full command and control capabilities. It facilitates coordination between emergency services from different regions and agencies, enabling effective incident management. The emergency center’s team locates the optimal resource (ambulance, squad car etc.) according to time-to-incident, incident severity, vehicle type, equipment etc., on a computerized map. The mobile unit driver follows the optimal route to the emergency scene on his in-vehicle computerized map.
AwareNess provides emergency dispatchers with a real-time situational awareness operational picture, based on continuous updates of locations and event details by field units. The system enables each unit to see its immediate surroundings on a computerized map.
AwareNess also provides advanced vehicle location (AVL), decision support and computer aided dispatch (CAD). The system is based on software developed by Ness for the defense sector and incorporates in-vehicle computers, specialized sensors such as Life Pack 12 defibrillators, GPS positioning devices and cellular data communications. The emergency teams can also use wireless PDAs, especially useful for missions requiring crews to dismount vehicles. The system’s recording and debriefing capabilities are also used for training and planning and it can be connected to other systems.

AwareNess has already been deployed by Israel's national emergency medical service, Magen David Adom - MDA (Red Star of David), and saves lives every day by reducing response times to and from incidents, increasing resource utilization and improving inter-region coordination. It is deployed in MDA’s national and 11 regional dispatching centers and in more than 500 ambulances.
