SIGINT Based Air Target Identification System
AIR-RECON is a system for processing and distributing Electronic Reconnaissance Data concerning Air Targets. It is used to:
• Analyze, distribute and store SIGINT (COMINT and ESM / ELINT) data
• Utilize the SIGINT data for automatic identification of Air Situation Picture (ASP)
• Update Electronic Order of Battle (EOB) for Intelligence purposes
In order to achieve these goals, AIR-RECON provides a comprehensive and high quality Electronically Identified Air Situation Picture (EIASP) together with a variety of Decision Support Tools. The EIASP serves as the main source of information for decision making within all echelons of Air Force Command. The quality of these decisions (in the areas of Situation and Threat Assessment) depends directly upon the quality of the EIASP.
AIR-RECON Sources of Information
For EIASP generation the following information is used in AIR-RECON:
• ASP - obtained periodically from the Air Defense Command and Control System
• SIGINT detections - received automatically from ESM, ELINT and COMINT sensors
• Manually entered COMINT transcriptions
• EOB data base
